Asserting Control Over Hong Kong, China Enacts Security Law

As the tension between India and China, increasing day by day. Now it has been reported that a new national security law has been passed for Hong Kong.

The security law has been passed by Beijing’s top legislative body. The news was first reported by NOW News, the local Hong Kong media. The news was also shared by two pro-Beijing outlets,  Wei Wen Po and Ta Kung Pao, which generally signals Government’s official policies.

Xinhua, Chinese official news agency, after hours, declared that votes were collective in the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress. The channel also reported that the new national security law will be included in basic laws in Hong Kong.

Though the text of the law is still not released. The law gives permission to Beijing to set up its own security agency to investigate security cases on the land of Hong Kong. The law is likely to come into effect from July 1.

On Tuesday protesters had gathered at a shopping mall in Hong Kong, to protest against the National Security Law.

Beijing has affirmed the law, by saying it as a measure to protect the instability on the land of Hong Kong.

China’s controversial step has received the disagreement and can even increase the gap between China and the other Western Countries.
