Oscars selection process to be diversified by 800+ invites

Oscar has invited 819 members in campaign  to diversify the Academy. The Academy said that the invites include 36 percent of people of colour and 45 percent women. Artists from 68 countries, who accepted the invitation will be having the voting rights at 93rd Academy Awards ,which will be held on April 25, 2021.

Academy President David Rubin said, “The Academy is delighted to welcome these distinguished fellow travellers in the motion picture arts and sciences. We have always embraced extraordinary talent that reflects the rich variety of our global film community, and never more so that now”.

The 2020 Academy Awards has bagged the names of major Hollywood names like Cynthia Erivo, Jhon David Washington, Constance Wu, Zazie Beetz, Zendaya Awkwafina, Olivia Wilde and others.

Stars of parasite (Korean movie) that won multiple Oscar awards is also on the list as well.

The Academy has also invented five years plan that includes implementing addition standards for nominees. “We take great pride in the strides we have made in exceeding our initial inclusion goals set back in 2016, acknowledge the road ahead is a long one.We are committed to staying the course.We look forward to continuing to foster an Academy that reflects the world around us in our membership,  our programs , our new museum, and our awards”, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said.

During this event Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt and coustume designer Neeta Lulla will also mark there presence as they are among the 819 artistes and executives who have received invitations for the Academy of Motion Picturs Arts and Sciences(AMPAS).
