IPL 2022 to have 10 teams competing each other

IPL, the world’s richest cricket league is all set to introduce two more franchises to compete for the coveted trophy. The Indian Premier League will be a 10 team affair from 2022 as its governing body BCCI has decided to auction two new teams during the end phase of the current edition.

With anonymity conditions, a senior BCCI source told PTI that the Indian Premier League will be witnessing 10 teams from the next year with the bidding process and the finalisation scheduled in the month of May this year. The source added, “ Once the teams are finalised, they can start their operational work which takes considerable time”.

The BCCI’s top level including president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Sah conducted a meeting on Saturday on execution of various policy decisions finalised by the IPL governing council at the beginning of the year.
