Govt extends crackdown on digital platform

Extending crackdown on the digital platform, the government of India has passed fresh list of banned mobile applications in the Indian market. Citing the reason of being the potential threat to the national security and sovereignty, the ministry of technology issued the list of 118 apps which were mostly Chinese. It includes few very famous apps among the youth of the country like PUBG, Baidu and Xiaomi’s ShareSave. The ban is announced amid tension between the two nations at the LAC from where the news of recent clashes between the two forces is surfacing throughout the country.

The ban is said to be a big blow to the famous gaming app PUBG as it is a hit in the country having nearly 175 million downloads i.e 24% of the total downloads worldwide. Last time the government blocked the famous video making app TikTok which was also very famous. Till now the government has blocked around 224 apps.
