Ambani: Working to be backbone for India’s Covid-19 vaccination

While in conversation with Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zukerberg under the Facebook Fuel for India 2020 event, Mukesh Ambani the chairperson and director of Reliance Industries Ltd said that India is rebounding the crisis with a lot of enthusiasm and courage. Referring to Covid-19, he said it is not in the country’s DNA to be deterred by a crisis as India has not just faced the situation with resilience and resolve but is also successfully converting it into an opportunity for new growth.

Mukesh Ambani predicted that the country is going to be among the top three economies in the world within the next two decades. He also stated India being a premier digital society in the coming times. Adding to it he also said that the country’s per capita income would also get a boost from USD 1,800 – 2,000 per capita to USD 5,000 per capita in the coming times.

Talking on the India’s Covid-19 vaccination programme, Ambani said that his company is working closely with the Narendra Modi government at the centre to provide the necessary technology tools and become backbone for the vaccination programme in the coming quarters. Adding to it he said, “We are ready and pretty much at par with the world to roll out one of the largest vaccine programmes in the first half of 2021, under Prime Minister’s leadership.”

He also added, “Sometimes I wonder that if the pandemic had struck India just four or five years earlier, we would not have been in as good a shape as what we are today, with all the connectivity we have. The credit for that must go to our Prime Minister’s Digital India vision, where he motivated the entire industry to roll out broadband in the first five years of his first term”.
