Living up its commitment towards the concerns over climate change the France is all set to amend country’s constitution with the inclusion of the provisions related to the climate and biodiversity protection.
The country’s lower house, the National Assembly took its fist step towards a referendum on the constitutional amendment with the 391-47 vote on the climate bill. The ammendments once completed will add notions of biodiversity, environment and the fight against global warming to the basic laws Article 1.
It is to be noted that, in December Emmanuel Macron, the French President had announced his country’s intention of nationwide referendum on constitutional amendments concerning the fight against climate change.
