As per latest reports on the coronavirus studies going on around the world, Malaysia has detected a new strain of it, which is said to be 10 times more infectious than that of in the Europe.

The mutation termed as D614G was detected in three of the 45 cases in a cluster that initiated from a restaurant owner who returned from India and reportedly breached his 14 day home quarantine. The similar strain was detected in another cluster which was returning from the Philippines. Reporting the study Director-General of Health Noor Hisham Abdullah stated that, the detection of new strain may denote that the existing level of studies on possible vaccines could be ineffective or incomplete against the mutations. Through his Facebook post he also urged the fellow citizens to take greater precautions and cooperation, so that they could break the chain of the possible infections resulting from any mutation.

Although Malaysia has curbed the spread of the Covid-19 to a larger extent as compared to the rest of the world, but recently the number of new cases is picking up. On Saturday the country reported 26 new cases, followed by 25 new cases on Sunday, which is most since July 28.
