UN praised “Pharmacy of the World” as the ‘best asset’

Praising India’s efforts towards the mission of global vaccination campaign, United Nation’s Secretary General Antonio Guterres termed the vaccine production capacity of India as the ‘best asset’ that the world is having today. While addressing the media the UN chief stated, “I know that in India there is a very high level of production of Indian developed vaccines. We are in contact with Indian institutions for that. We strongly hope that India will have all the instruments that are necessary to play a major role in making sure that a global vaccination is campaign is made possible”.

Replying to the words of UN Chief, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that, the organization can count on the ‘Pharmacy of the World’ to overcome the Covid-19 challenge.

Emerging as the global pharmacy and contributing a major chunk for the global vaccination campaign, India has till now donated over 5.5 million doses to its immediate neighbours except Pakistan and has further planned to extend its vaccine gift to other countries like CARICOM countries, Pacific Island states, Nicaragua and the Oman.
