Scientists have discovered a new test that gives similar results as the RT-PCR test and is budget-friendly too. India’s CRISPR Feluda Covid-19 test is said to gives more accurate results than the rapid antigen test. Under this test, the presence of virus is detected based on the colour changed. Feluda test, named after the famed detective of Satyajit Ray, costs Rs.500 and gives the result in just 45 minutes. The test has been developed by the joint efforts of New Delhi-based CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology and the TATA Group. It can detect the virus irrespective of its genetic variation and has received its approval from the DCGI for the commercial launch.
