Waymo and Volvo come together to develop self-driving cars

On Thursday, a big decision of Waymo and the Volvo Cars Group partnership came forward.

Both the companies have agreed to develop an electric vehicle, to ride-hailing use. It has come forward as a part of a new global partnership.

Waymo, which is a unit of Silicon Valley Alphabet Inc, said that they will be the global partners of Volvo in developing the self-driving electric vehicle. The vehicles that will be capable of working safely, that too without routine driver intervention.

The work has been divided by the two companies, Waymo will look into artificial intelligence and hardware, whereas Volvo will focus on designing and manufacturing aspects of the vehicle.

It even informed that Waymo will be working with Volvo’s global brand and also includes Polestar and Lynk & Co.

Though both the companies, Waymo and Volvo had not made it clear as to when they will be launching the vehicle.

This deal of the Volvo and Waymo has marked the return of Waymo, with a goal as to how would cars that pilot themselves look.

It is said that Waymo is also developing technology for the trucks, self -driving commercial trucks. According to reports, Waymo in its first external round raised around $3 billion.
